David Blight will give a lecture at 6:30pm on February 7, 2018, at the Maryland Historical Society entitled “Frederick Douglass at 200.” This lecture is part of a series of events in honor of the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Douglass at the Maryland Historical Society, 201 West Monument Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201.

The Maryland Historical Society is hosting a series of events in honor of the bicentennial of the birth of Frederick Douglass. Join us in celebrating one of Maryland's most significant historical figures. David Blight is currently writing a new, full biography of Frederick Douglass that will be published by Simon and Schuster in September 2018, titled Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom. This lecture will focus on the meaning of Douglass’s life and thought, as well as the importance of writing his biography, especially in light of the commemoration of his 200th birthday. This is FREE event.
